Celebrating 10 years of activity
SPARK loves to cultivate and celebrate our own uniqueness. That’s why, when talking about our project, we decided to tell its story in three ways.
To some, we speak in timelines and history. Others we reach by describing our dream. And finally, for some of you, we offer a few straightforward, down-to-earth key facts.
The Story of SPARK: A Timeline, a Dream, the Facts
How do you share the genesis of a dream?
We have been pondering the best way to tell the story of a project.
One way to do it is to travel back in time.
Time Travelling
Celebrating is about looking back at the path you have walked. It’s about recognising where you come from so you can move forward fully energised and supported.
So back we go. Travel with us through the spiral of time.
Our journey begins on the 18th of March 2001.
On this weekend, I was in Milano learning Reiki with our teacher, Umberto Carmignani. For the first time, I came into contact with the reality of la Città della Luce.
The seed of SPARK was planted right then. I remember a vivid image in my mind: a place where people come together to learn, and to engage with each other with respect, care, and enthusiasm.
That vision never left me. Throughout my studies and travels around the world, I would regularly speak about it.
“One day, I will open a space like that.”
My friends and colleagues would smile — some in support, some in disbelief, some with curiosity. I knew that by saying it out loud, I was making sure I couldn’t ignore it.
“Now you’ve said it. You’d better do it.”
Spiral forward in time — to October 2015. To be precise, Wednesday the 28th: SPARK is born in Zurich, Switzerland.
For the ones who speak astrology:
The sun is in the sign of Scorpio. This roughly translates as: SPARK loves to go deep, to investigate the invisible, to explore the mysteries of this and other worlds.
If you have attended a seminar with us, you know what we are talking about.
Ascendant Sagittarius: SPARK, at heart, is a free spirit. It loves to travel the world, speak many languages, explore unknown paths, and bring joy and playfulness to its relationships.
Moon in Taurus: The ideal celebration for SPARK? Gathering with its close community, friends, and family in nature — around a big table with fresh, seasonal, organic food.
Spiral forward another seven years — we land in 2022.
Time to assess where we stand.
SPARK has survived COVID. And that’s no small thing. After months of crisis prevention, we finally sit down, breathe in, and look around.
We realise SPARK is no longer a dream. The seed of a vision has become a young tree, eager to explore and discover. It has happened. It is happening. SPARK is seven.
Three years later —
October 2025
— SPARK turns ten.
It continues to happen, and we… follow.
The Dream
This is one way to tell the story. Yet it doesn’t tell you why SPARK was born.
So let’s tell the story through a dream.
Dreaming, for us, is not a pointless waste of time. It’s an essential part of our project. The dream nourishes our planning and our actions.
Every dream needs celebration to grow and evolve. Dreaming and celebration go hand in hand. Celebration helps us recognise where we stand and the path we have travelled. This, in turn, nourishes the next phase of the dream.
Close your eyes for a moment. Journey with us into the world of SPARK.
See a world where people are free to shine in their own uniqueness.
A place where, together, we can be our best Selves.
In this world, differences are not a cause for conflict, friction, or fear — but rather a rich source of potential, joining hands and creating harmony.
It is a place of enthusiasm and creativity, where talents are shared to support one another.
SPARK is a universe for action-oriented, creative souls seeking transformation — within and around themselves. Their trustworthy travel companions are courage, creativity, and love.
Can you see this world? Can you feel it in your heart?
We see it. We feel it. It is our direction, our motivation, our vision. Our hearts are full of gratitude, because day by day, we are shaping it — together.
Take a few deep breaths. Feel your feet well grounded. And slowly open your eyes.
It’s time to return to reality.
The facts
Dreaming is nice — but let’s talk facts.
Welcome to the daily dialogue between the dreamer, the planner, the doer, and the celebrator.
These concepts come from John Croft and his wife, Vivienne Elanta — the founders of Dragon Dreaming. Their approach explores ways to build successful and sustainable organisations and projects. It has supported us immensely in shaping and growing with SPARK.
Our dreamer loves the Heart Sutra we learn during the First Level of Reiki:
GATE, GATE, PARA GATE, PARASAM GATE, BODHI SVAHA
The dreamer continuously imagines new opportunities, new projects, new adventures. Its purpose is to go beyond — no limits.
Then it’s time for the planner and the doer to take the stage:
“Right, this is all very beautiful. But enough words. Show me the facts.”
